Discipleship in the Wilderness | Missions Untold

Time spent in the wilderness profoundly shapes our character, making us more like faithful, daring soldiers without guns (though you carry virtually everything else a soldier would have). As fasting removes toxins from your body, temporarily removing yourself from society cleans junk from your soul. You naturally learn how to live more simply in the wilderness because all your gear must be carried on your back. When you return home, you will be surprised what you can live without.

After hearing from God in the wilderness and being stretched far beyond your comfort zone, you can return home and resume that grinding routine with a more Christ-like spirit. You’ll find yourself depending less on your own strength and more on His.

A wilderness adventure can unite and challenge a church planting team or teach unbelievers or new believers how faith is practically lived out anywhere in the world. An especially skeptical and pragmatic generation coming of age now is dying to experience that.
